808 Firecrest® Track Tubular

When you consider how close the margin of victory might be in a race that lasts just seconds, it's no wonder that trackies are such a detail-oriented bunch. We're the same here at Zipp, which is why we've put all of our expertise into the new 808 Firecrest® Track Tubular. 

New for 2013, our 808 track offering now features our proprietary Firecrest rim shape. That means triackies now benefit from the same superior aerodynamics, stiffness and stabilty riders get on the road with the 808 Firecrest. 

Track racing calls for stiff, responsive, aero wheels that accelerate quickly and maintain velocity. This 1,909 g wheelset is tuned for speed with a track-specific dimpled 82 mm rim, 20/24 front/rear spoke counts, and our ridiculously stout track hubs.

Available with distinctive Classic White decals and silver hubs.

VCLC™  (Visco-Elastic Constrained Layer Control)

Visco-Elastic Constrained Layer Control (VCLC) uses a vibration-absorbing material sandwiched between layers of rigid carbon laminate in the rim. When the wheel receives an impact from the road, much of the shock is absorbed by the VCLC system, delivering a 10% reduction in vibration.

Carbon Bridge™

Carbon Bridge uses a Kevlar® thread in a co-axial helix stitch to bind sheets of carbon to each other in our tubular rims. Because Kevlar is 350% more impact resistant than carbon, it can disperse shock more evenly throughout the carbon laminate, making for a rim that is practically bulletproof. In particular, Carbon Bridge reduces the vulnerability of the rim's tire bed, the area most susceptible to damage from impact.
