Control Over Chaos: 303 Firecrest Disc-brake

Zipp introduces new 303 Firecrest Disc-brake wheelset

The Zipp 303 Firecrest Disc-brake wheelset is durable, lightweight and stiff while providing the consistent and powerful performance of disc braking. The wheelset’s newly designed 11-speed compatible hub features larger Swiss stainless steel bearings with a custom cartridge in the rear hub shell for superior durability and reliability over tough terrain.

SMOOTH IS FAST:

  • Available in Carbon Clincher or Tubular versions.
  • Optimized for unsurpassed performance in conditions ideal for disc-brake applications including cyclocross, gravel or dirt roads, steep lonely lanes or urban assaults.
  • Hub geometry and virtual 3-cross spoke-lacing pattern are optimized for reliability as well as exceptional stiffness, resulting in efficient power transfer and quick acceleration.
  • Mathematically derived Firecrest rim technology provides unmatched stability and aerodynamic efficiency at 45mm rim depth proven with victories at Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix and more cyclocross races than you can shake a cowbell at.

Disc braking combined with a superiorly stiff wheel build, a smooth-but-tough hub set and proprietary Firecrest rim technology is what ’cross and road veteran Tim Johnson calls the “smooth-is-fast” effect. “In dry conditions the one-finger braking can mean the difference between stuffing it up in the corner by sliding out, or keeping on the edge of the perfect racing line,” said Johnson of the Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld.com Team. “In muddy and sketchy conditions, consistent braking, or having brakes at all help me stay in the right rut or give me the confidence to let it rip and push even harder than the previous lap.”

In other words, control over chaos.
